6.3mm = 0.25 inches. I use this hole size for all 5mm LEDs. I mount them with a plastic bezel that I get from Radioshack #276-079.

I use the single-piece plastic bezel from Mouser, cheap, blends in w/ the paint pretty much. The holes are a bit tight but it works pretty well. Cheers, Scott
