... Really? So a Emulator 3 (plain) or 3X can read Emax II but not Emax I? If not, you can always use Translator to convert the Banks/Presets to E3/E3X format.

So this is embarrassing. I found the orange wire jumper shorted to green. When I fixed that the VU meter started working, and I could hear the input sound.
