Re: [emax] EMAX II boots but no sound/no VU levels register

2016-03-14 by oracular@...

So this is embarrassing. I found the orange wire jumper shorted to green. When I fixed that the VU meter started working, and I could hear the input sound. I'm still missing a piece of the puzzle, since I haven't succeeded in playing back a sample. That might be me being unfamiliar with the workflow though. It might also have something to do with the note assign, since the note jumps around when I try to use the slider on the change sample page, which makes it hard to set.

Finally- It turns out the burned resistor tests at 13 ohms. Evidently that doesn't prevent the ADC from working.

Anyway: huge progress!

IC 10 - you could try UTSOURCE
R84 is 10 ohm.

You verified the voltages from the power supply? +5VDC on Yellow, +12VDC on Orange, -12VDC on purple?

I just brought an Emax II rack back to life, sort of. I did the JM215 slim drive mod, and adapted and ATX power supply. It boots up, but so far I haven't gotten a sound out (or in). From the "VU Mode" page, it doesn't register any input even at max gain. If I do "force sampling" with audio going to the sampling input, then audition, I just get silence. Is this a problem with the analog PCB? I'm thinking reseating all ICs, and cleaning the contacts with deoxit.

While reseating IC10 on the analog PCB, I noticed that resistor R84 (the one right next to IC10) is burned. That can't be good.

Does anyone know the specs of R84? Alternately, a picture of R84 would do, I could work it out.

If my IC10 ADC is toast, is it possible to obtain a replacement?
