If the battery leaked everywhere , then you have quite a mess to clean up. I detailed the procedure for neutralizing the battery goop elsewhere in this list.

Seems as this is the situation. I personally scrathed out all traces a the area, replaced most components and point-to-point rewired the traces between them

My 240 did this when I first got it. Problem ended up being in the ribbon interconnects. They re IDC types so wires can work loose inside the connector housing

Oh well. I removed the battery and there was a fair amount of corrosion there. Nothing had been eaten through but the tell-tale brown discolouring was present.
