Yes the violins did sound different IMO to what we now know as the Mk2 violins. There was also my personal favourites Mixed Brass B which was nasty ! A Andy

The MK II flutes and violins were re-equed for the M400. Most are MK II sounds but there are special recordings for the 400 like cello and choir that were not

Hi Clay- I have not heard it yet. I have the 2003 SACD release, which has a new 5.1 channel mix. Decent enough, but it was mixed with modern ideals.
