In most samplers it s possible to layer sounds and they trigger at different velocity levels ( in theory you can trigger 127 different samples in this waY)

It is possible that he s triggering the clock input of a sequencer which is then set up to go to differrent cards of the SDS-V. That s my guess then. No magic
