I got the Techno Synth Rom, I wanted to download to the XL Extension Presets and ARP patterns from Papen web site but before I do that small question. Now I have 2 ROMs inside my XL I will make sure that the *.mid will be downloaded into the Techno Synth Yard ROM and not the XL1 Rom inside. Is there anything I need to do before downloading the files??? Thank you <<|_NiR_|>>

NiR, You will not(cannot)overwrite the "ROM". The arp patterns will load in the "User" arp locations on your unit and the presets will load into user bank 2(make sure you relocate any personal presets that you have in that bank). If you open up the read me file that is enclosed in the Zip file, it will have all the info you need. Also verify which ver. ROM you received so that you download the correct presets. This can be done simply by scrolling to Techno ROM preset 127 in bank 3 which is usually a default and should have the version # in it. Yes I meant the user bank, but if I want to download one pattern to one specific user memory example 005 or other, is there way to do it. Because I downloaded one and I can't find where it is stored on the XL. Any hints. Plus, I downloaded the files from Papen web site into my XL but when I checked the locations the files weren't there. 1- I used E-loader to download 2- The midi in (Red led) shows receiving information. 3- Device ID is 000 4- Midi is enabled Do you think there is something that I am doing wrong??? Any help will be appreciated NiR --- In xl7@y..., "emufreak1" <mmcquay@m...> wrote: > NiR, > > You will not(cannot)overwrite the "ROM". NiR, For the Rob Papen Extension presets, it is one giant midi file with all 128 presets. They are not broken down individually. When I downloaded them to my P2K, I used a playback only sequencer called Massiva which used to be freeware ( www.massiva.com ) which once the file was ready for playback, I hit enter and playback began and the files appeared in UB 2. I will try with E-loader tonight on the XL-7 to see if the transfer method works. You had the sequence downloader portion open in E-Loader correct? When you clicked add file and picked the midi file from the folder in which you had it stored, nothing appeared? NiR, No I didn't get a chance yet. I was out of town and just got back so I did not try it. NiR, It does not work. When I tried it, the E-Loader prompts only allow you to choose pattern or song so when it was done, Pattern 0, Bank 0 read TSCY bank 2 presets but they were nowhere to be found in the user bank 2 location. I will go upstairs on my other computer and try the Massiva playback only sequencer to see if that works. NiR, That worked. After I hooked up the midi cables to the XL-7, I launched the Massiva program, selected the arp pattern midi file first, hit enter and they appeared in the user arp section. I then did the same for the bank 2 and 3 extension presets for the TSCY ROM and they all appeared with no problem. It's seems that until the E- loader program can except preset mode, an outside sequencer will do the trick. The Massiva program (www.massiva.com) that I use, used to be freeware but I don't think so anymore but there is one that is still freeware called Midi-Ox at (www.midiox-com) which is primarily used for sysex transfers but has a playback utility in it called Midibar. Once you open that program(midiox), you will see what looks like a little red fish (it's actually the letters m & b)in the task bar. Click on it to open up the midibar utility, click on the folder icon and select the midi file that you want and click the "play" arrow. What are the other user's on this group doing to download presets? Later, M2 --- In xl7@y..., "emufreak1" <mmcquay@m...> wrote: > NiR, > > It does not work.
