What are my chances of getting the source code for the mp-7?

You could always try, the most they could say is no. But you need to talk
to the right people/person with a clear intent on purpose (experimental,
school. etc). Annotated source code would save weeks of time of reverse
engineering. You can also extract and reverse the code from the updates.
This would not be annotated. In either case, you will need a
compiler/debugger application for the microprocessor used. Otherwise it
will be trial and error with one and a half eyes closed (I have written
embedded code before).

The chances? None.

If you wanted to pay, be prepared to offer something tantamount to ~20
man years of work. Just because a product is discontinued doesn't mean
that the IP contained is no longer used or is no longer a competative
advantage.

That said, what would you want to do with it anyway? Without
specialized hardware and *very* expensive compilers/dev systems, you
wouldn't be able to use with it.

If you've got specific questions about how something works in the
software, feel free to ask, and if it's something that is okay to
share, I will...

I'd like to work in the os i think. and maybe make it easier for you
to reach the options in the multisetups. since i'm kinda slow as you
guys know and am still working my head around sysex like steve the
composer is using. also accessing grid mode while the emu is playing
and not having to stop it would be so nice.

also for reapairs. my emu acts up sometimes with these stop/play
freezes and the right channle on the main out doesnt seem to be
working either...(and i still cant use the gate function in grid
mode..)

i have a few more ideas i think. but i just dont have em in the
front of my mind right now and cant recall them.

when i got the command station i got it mainly as a controller. and
am so impressed at what it can do with midi. but at the same time
with all the features, the lack of a few that i feal practical is
disapointing.

in either case it's still a great machine and shouldnt be
discontinued.

I don't think you really want to mess around with the OS. (I could be
wrong.) What do you want to do with multisetups? --Steve

for now just the same stuff we were talking about before. i just
havent managed to figure it out yet since my sequencer wont send sysex
on its own(flstudio) was gonna do it in midi-ox or keykit. but havent
actualy gotten alll the way around to trying yet. i might be afraid of
experimenting....

Do you know PatchPro? (http://members.aol.com/caldor2004/patchpro/)
Ok, I know it's not the OS, only a patch editor for EMU proteus family,
but that guy who wrote that utility, must be an expert of the EMU
software and sysex background. Maybe he can help you.
(You can find his email address at that URL.)

I'd stick with trying to learn sysex first. Programming's hard,
especially embedded systems.

Maybe instead of the source code, you need the 2.0 manual. =)
Hold Play and press Rec to get into grid mode while playing...

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
