Hi all, I've just started using my Mp7 with an 1820 soundcard and cubase. When it's slaved to cubase the bpm seems to wander either side of the setting on the pc. Is this usual? To my ear the timing is slightly off. Tom.

press MIDI button - pg 1 is BASE TEMPO -hit Right Cursor button 1X to position cursor on TEMPO (bpm) - Scroll LEFT to below "1" - it will read EXT. Now the machine is ready to sync to MIDI beat clock --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "thomaspotts666" <thomaspotts666@y...> wrote:

nothing that simple unfortunately, I've had it set to 'ext' already. Having recorded a 5min track the audio is definitely drifting out by the end on cubase (sx). Any more suggestions? Thanks though. is the timing set to a full bpm setting like i.e. 91, or to one with a fraction i.e. 91.250 within cubase? when sequencing the mp-7 only allows full bpm's, i don't know if that's also the case when slaved to another device or sequencer, but you might want to check that as well cheers Chris

In my experience, MIDI clock timing depends *a lot* of the computer software and hardware configuration. You may want to use MidiTime and MidiTest to find out which clock is better for your system, and choose emulated or "real" ports accordingly: http://www.jay.fm/blog/pc-midi-timing-and-nuendo.html http://earthvegaconnection.com/evc/products/miditest -- Sebastien, -=-=-=-=-= I hit the CTRL key but I'm still not in control!

Thanks for the links; the sites were quite informative. Haven't run the timing utility yet, but it looks interesting. I had trouble syncing the original E-Mu OS that came with my P2500 with Cakewalk, but OS2.0 sees to have solved those problems. --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "[cYcLoThYmIqUe]" <poumtschak@f...> wrote: > In my experience, MIDI clock timing depends *a lot* of the computer > software and hardware configuration. > > You may want to use MidiTime and MidiTest to find out which clock is > better for your system, and choose emulated or "real" ports accordingly:

i've had the same problem with my XL-7 and Digital Performer on a Mac G4. i tried a million different tests and changes, with no luck. the problem finally seemed to go away when i connected the XL-7 to my MIDI interface with an expensive Mogami MIDI cable. but alas for me, the problem returned. now i think i've got it beat: once i got a new M-Audio MIDI interface, the problem vanished. completely. and it's been stable for weeks now. it seems that my XL-7 didn't like the sync sent through my MOTU Micro Lite interface. if you can, try a different interface from a different manufacterer. and high-end cables don't hurt either! good luck! --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "steve_the_composer" <smw-mail@p...> wrote:
