Re: [xl7] Re: Burning your own roms?

2008-06-13 by Bob S.

Hi Aaron/all

I used an E6400 Ultra to burn my ROM.....worked fine (if you follow certain setup rules). I paid <$300usd maybe a year or so ago for it on Ebay. I used a 2 step process that burned both parts of the ROM board so I was able to get instruments (samples) and presets that used those instruments from the Ultra to the XL-1......

>While that E5k sounds pretty cool, take his comments with a grain of salt. Just because it has all the ROM data, does NOT mean that you could burn ROMs from these. They won't have any presets. The only thing the Ultra samplers can understand is the Proteus instruments, so all the presets will be empty. No arps, no patchcords, no layers, etc.
