Re: midi setup almost works - need some ideas esp with Sonar

I am also trying to get everything organized and here is my idea. I
have a Motu MTP/AV and love it so much that I am about to get a
second one just to manage my beat boxes. The MTP/AV is an 8 by 16
MIDI patch bay that is very programmable. Almost any MIDI channels
from any port can be split out and routed to another port. Using this
I will make Port 1 the master in. Channels from Port 1 input will be
split out to the output of several other ports.

Port 1 Channel 1 to Port 2 Channel 1 – XL-7
Port 1 Channel 2 to Port 2 Channel 2
Port 1 Channel 3 to Port 2 Channel 3
Port 1 Channel 4 to Port 2 Channel 4
Port 1 Channel 5 to Port 3 Channel 1 – MP - 7
Port 1 Channel 6 to Port 2 Channel 2
Port 1 Channel 7 to Port 2 Channel 3
Port 1 Channel 8 to Port 2 Channel 4
Port 1 Channel 9 to Port 3 Channel 1 – P2500
Port 1 Channel 10 to Port 3 Channel 2
Port 1 Channel 11 to Port 3 Channel 3
Port 1 Channel 12 to Port 3 Channel 4
Port 1 Channel 13 to Port 4 Channel 1 – DX200
Port 1 Channel 14 to Port 5 Channel 1 – AN200
Port 1 Channel 15 to Port 6 Channel 1 – Electribe R
Port 1 Channel 16 to Port 7 Channel 1 – RM1x

This way my Command Stations are 4 part multi-tembre while other
units are single channel. Sonar only has to Port 8 Channels 1 through
16 of my primary MTP/AV to access those 7 units. If I want to dump
something into the XL-7, or maybe my RM1x I can then attach the
output of that device to Port 1. In fact, I can set up programs in
the MTP/AV so that the output of the Command Stations or the RM1x can
take turns controlling all devices. I think the MTP/AV holds 128
programs. So I can store songs in each of the devices. When it is
time for that device to be the master I can change programs on the
MTP/AV, no re-patching of MIDI cords.

In my current setup I have a very handy program in the MTP/AV where
each channel of Port 1 is redirected to a corresponding port number.
P1C2 maps to P2C1, P1C3 maps to P3C1, P1C4 maps to P4C1. With this
program I play any device in my setup on channel one with my Fantom
just by changing the Fantom's MIDI channel.
