Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

As I like to have all of my sounds in one box and the rehearsal 
studio I use has several different keyboards, I am contemplating 
removing the ROM from my PK-6, installing it into my XL-7 with the 
hopes that the PK-6 can still function as a midi controller for the 
XL-7 without a ROM. 

I know this more of a PK-6 issue but you are such a wise and 
knowledgable bunch I thought you might know. Can the EMU keyboards 
function without at least one ROM installed.

Just less gear to carry around.
