pattern mode

2003-02-13 by studio_6512 <studio6512@cinense.org>

when in pattern mode, I copied a pattern to an empty sequence, and
tried to modify the mixer volume setting for a channel, and saved
it, but it does not save. can someone tell me what I am doing wrong.

You should have a read through the FAQ up on the Yahoo site, it will make your
life a bit easier. The entire instrumnent mappings are actually saved as part
of a multi setup, you can see them under the Global Menu, this will include
instrument and volume sets (I believe). Also you have allready updated OS's?

Thanks for the reply Andre. Yup, the OS is up to 1.32. Just like everyone
else, waiting for 2.xx. You're right, I should look at the faq. Do I just
search for it, because I did not see a link for it on the XL7 group
homepage.

Since you have 1.32, you got a little bit of my brain failure (along
with some good features though, I hope!). There's a bug that causes
volume and pan information to not be saved reliably unless the pattern
is PLAYING while you save it.

Yeah, I know...screwy.

Hal... what does that mean? Hal...
-A few good men

So are you telling me that with this upgrade, in pattern mode, I
can't change the volume and save it the way I want? Is this true...
I will try and call E-mu today, hopefully they can answer this. I
called them on Tuesday, and they said that muting the tracks in song
mode was not what is was meant for. Does someone want to touch that
one?

No. Just make sure you're playing when you save. That's it.

Um...considering I wrote the software (and this bug!), you can probably
take my word for it... =)

Whoo not sure, it should be in groups.yahoo.com under the XL7 group somewhere on
the left, probably under downloads.

Andre,

Bummer, I did as you said, and no luck with saving. This is
happening with the drivinghom pattern. Not sure what the factory
pattern number was, but I saved it to a user template, and that is
what I am working with.

any ideas...

Yes, apparently you will have to save the pattern to the new pattern while the
sequencer is actually running... or set your volumes and pans while the
sequencer is running and save while the sequencer is running. Fixed in upcoming
OS apparently...

Whoa. "Template" alert. You do have data on the tracks you're trying
to save the volume and pan for, right? The XL-7 (intentionally) does
not save track data for empty tracks.

-Aaron

PS. The reason the save while stopped bug occurs is because it now
reloads the "initial" settings on save, but doesn't correctly ignore
those settings if the user changed them. While playing, it can't RTZ,
so it doesn't do that.

Re: pattern mode

Hey guys,

thanks for the input. but I hate being the newbie to correct this
issue, considering it is my own issue. too bad it had to cost me a
call to E-mu. so get this, what I wanted to do was change the
volume setting for one of the tracks on a factory pattern. So here
is what I had to do, Thanks goes to Ned from E-mu, much props man...

1. in pattern mode, press the pattern edit button next to the jog
dial.

2. blinking cursor on the top line, use the jog dial to get the
ERASE EVENTS option.

3. use the cursor to select the bottom line, CC# 1, you then use
the dial again to scrool and get CC# 7 (volume).

4. the Home/Enter button will turn on (red).

5. at this point pay attention to the light in the command
functions area. this is where the 16 track buttons are located, and
probably blinking. click on the track button you want to clear the
volume event. you can also click more than one track at a time.

6. once the track(s) are selected, click the Home/Enter button.

7. DONE. oh wait don't forget to save your work... doh... I speak
from experience here.

Please don't hate me, I have only had the MP-7 since Monday, and I
work during the day, so I am extremely new to this awesome piece of
equipment.

thanks...

Hehehe, there's a little bit of Aaron with us all apparently :)

Since you have 1.32, you got a little bit of my brain failure (along
with some good features though, I hope!).

You can save the Volume settings reliably, just don't do it while the
sequencer is stopped. Just make your changes whil the XX-7 is playing,
then save before you stop it. It works, just a bit goofy for a few more
weeks :)

Hal... what does that mean?

Does someone want to touch that
one?

Under Files, it's the first one I believe. You should have gotten a copy
when you first signed up for this list too, are people not getting those
now? Let me know and I'll fix it. I'll have a new FAQ up soon too.

Whoo not sure, it should be in groups.yahoo.com under the XL7 group
somewhere on
the left, probably under downloads.

Thanks for the reply Andre. Yup, the OS is up to 1.32. Just like
everyone
else, waiting for 2.xx. You're right, I should look at the faq. Do I
just
search for it, because I did not see a link for it on the XL7 group
homepage.

You should have a read through the FAQ up on the Yahoo site, it will make
your
life a bit easier. The entire instrumnent mappings are actually saved as
part
of a multi setup, you can see them under the Global Menu, this will
include
instrument and volume sets (I believe). Also you have allready updated
OS's?

when in pattern mode, I copied a pattern to an empty sequence, and
tried to modify the mixer volume setting for a channel, and saved
it, but it does not save. can someone tell me what I am doing wrong.
