Updating the O.S.

Updating the O.S.

2003-02-02 by stx303 <stx303@yahoo.com>

can you update the O.S. on a command station via USB. I have o.s. 1.0
(what it came with when i bought it) and i do not have midi
interface, and i wnat to get up to the current o.s as well as get the
orginal XL-1 sounds, can it be done with e-loader over USB? and if it
can, can it be done with a standard usb cable or do i need a specific
model?

Infortunately you can't use USB to upgrade the O.S.

If your computer's PC and have a gameport connector, you could buy or
borrow a MIDI cable for this. A cheap USB 1x1 MIDI could also do the
job I suppose.

The best defense against logic is stupidity.

I think I remeber hearing that midi is necessary to do the update unless
you have a higher version than that already, or maybe it's needed no matter
what?

I just wish they would make support for a usb floppy or zip drive or
something to use instead to be honest.

Wrong type of port. USB is host to slave. PC/Macs are host devices,
the XL-7 is a slave device, and floppy/zip drives are also slave
devices.
