Opinions on Xl-7 from users.

2002-11-21 by Kevin Bush

Hi,

First let me introduce myself. My name is Kevin Bush, and I produce dark electro-pop similar to Depeche Mode and De/Vision. I've been producing music as Quixote Chapter for two years and have played a couple of live shows in dallas with E:Moderne and Provision.

What brings me to this list is my interest in buying a xl-7 to use live as my main sound and sequencing source. Have any of you used the XL-7 live, and if so, how has it performed for you? Do you find its sequencer user friendly?

Thanks in advance for any replies, as this may be a fairly common question asked.

-Kevin

I use the sequencer live to control 2 other sound units and the sounds in
the MP-7. I perform d&b and ambient... Live use is really nice. I do wish
that you could set it so that it doesn't automatically turn on & off
channels when you change tracks (to how you have it preset) - But I think
the next os update will allow you to choose whether or not you wnat that to
happen (EMU HINT) ...

I usually run mine in song mode and tweek from there making things different
every time. with 16 different tracks it makes it easy to switch things
out...

I've used the XL-7 live a few times, worked great. I find the sequencer
extremely user friendly, it's fast and simple to get your ideas down. The
new OS coming out next year will greatly improve on this.
