Am I going to risk any preset madness by adding roms? I imagine not, but I was just wondering if anyone's presets got messed or funked or their songs defaulted to diff presets when you install new roms... I just ordered 2 roms (xl & world) and i can't wait to get them!

One thing that is nice is, the more ROM's you have, the more original your presets can become by taking elements from different ones to save to user locations;) --- In xl7@y..., erik_magrini@B... wrote: > Nope, it will all work out fine. > > rEalm > > > > > > "David DeciBel" <spec@s...> > 11/21/02 12:45 AM > Please respond to xl7 > > > To: xl7@y... > cc: > Subject: [xl7] installing roms > > > Am I going to risk any preset madness by adding roms? Definitely. I never really scroll through the presets anymore, I just go through the actual waveforms. Better variety that way when you have more than one ROM installed. Lots of really cool waveforms too, many of which are completely under-utilized by the stock factory presets. rEalm One thing that is nice is, the more ROM's you have, the more original your presets can become by taking elements from different ones to save to user locations;) [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

But, hey, who am I to talk, with a fully loaded XL-7? > > Nope, it will all work out fine. All the ROM's have unique ID's; these actually appear as one of the bank-change controller values (which you see if you hit the audition button). -- nick rothwell -- composition, systems, performance -- http://www.cassiel.com

I set it up so my first User Preset (000:0) is the Default one (located originally in the last XL-7 Rom Preset location), which has no waveforms selected. To get to the waveforms page, press Preset Edit, then hit track mute button 1 twice. Use the track up and down buttons to switch layers. That way, whenever I go to a blank track, I always have a fresh canvas loaded for sound design. BTW, I also saved a Pattern with this blank Preset saved to all of the tracks. Then I copied this Pattern to all of my unused User Pattern locations. That way, any time I go to a new User pattern to make a tune, all of the tracks are free. Umm, I explained that terribly, let me know if you need me to clarify more. rEalm how do u scroll thru the waveforms?? [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
