The steps I am doing asre as follows:
select my the file I want to edit from my bank
browser. Download it to my PC, import it into CUbase
as a new midi project. Make my edits. Then I export as
midi file and usaully select type 0 and hit ok. I go
back to E-loader and add the file to my download
window and hit download. That is when I get the
invalid midi file error.

I thought it might have been something on the XL7
settings, but I donwloaded a pattern the Emu groove
share and it plug right in without a hitch.

So, I am stumped. I thinking about trying a different
editor, but I'd really like using Cubase for
everything if I can.

Cubase question

2002-09-26 by golerage

When I do save as from Cubase SX and try to download the new file to
an empty bank, I get an error saying the it is an invalid midi file
from E-loader. Is there a trick to making these work? I retain the
P.x.x.name.mdi syntax and tried both export options of type 1 and 0.
I can't download to the XL7 even when I take a pattern and export it
out of Cubase without changes either. I don't rememeber this
happenning before with VST 5.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Greg

Very strange, I do that (err...did that) all the time with no problems.
What are you doing in SX before you save as? Have you tried Exporting as
Midi File?

Hmm, that's really weird! Try loading a MIDI file into Cubase, then
export it without making any changes at all. Does it still happen?

It still messes up coming out of Cubase. I probably
have setting somewhere that is screwed up in the
software. For now, I am running the midi files through
Cakewalk 9 and it is working fine. I even forgot how
much I liked the old Cakewalk version. Sonar just
seemed to Disneyland like in its UI. Anyway, I am up
and running for now. Thanks for leeting me pick your
brain.
