MP-7 external effects processor

MP-7 external effects processor

2002-09-30 by epvn896

hi, i'm new to this list and i just got my MP-7 a couple of days ago.
i was wondering, does anyone know what would be a good external
effects processor to buy for my MP-7? i'm looking for one with a
really good LO-FI type effect and one that also can memorize presets
and accept preset change commands via MIDI.

also, i read the post on using LFO2 set to a square or pulse wave for
creating the slicer effect, tried it out, and it seemed to work
pretty good, but i was wondering if anyone knew of a way to create a
really good LO-FI type effect as well (perhaps with some of the
filters and some distorion or something).

thanks,

-brian

by "lo-fi" i assume you mean some sort of lowpass filtering? for
that, there's nothing better than a sherman filterbank - it's totally
sick... check out the audio demos at http://www.sherman.be/ :)

I use a behringer VAMP 2 (amp simulator)... That's enough lofi for
me. Nice distortion, some useful effects, and not very clean sound at
all (which is probably what you're looking for), which means it's
also quite cheap.

Beautiful for e.pianos and drums...

I think he means lo-fi as in low fidelity. A lot of effects processors
have this, it sounds like you lower the bit depth to make the sound
'grungy'. I don't know of a way to do this with the XX-7's though.

Actually, I tihnk there's a band pass filter called 'radio something or
other' that MIGHT do it.

the sherman is awesome no doubt. though it's not really an "effects
processor", but more of a sound mangler. i could be wrong on but i
believe it doesn't save presets, or have traditional effect programs,
and it doesn't accept preset change commands via MIDI. my suggestion
would be the Behringer DSP2024P. it has several awesome lo-fi settings
and all the other features you need. it sounds nice and clean (when
you want it to), it's rackmountable and is dirt cheap (around $150).

Re: [xl7] MP-7 external effects processor

A quick fix is a guitar pedal for Ibanez. It is called
the LF7, cost about $80.00. It can be used for vocals,
guitars, bass, just anything you want to through it.
It is mono and you would have to manually control it.
It would also have to be placed after your signal in
route to the speaker. Otherwise, you could look at
rack mount gear. The price will jump quite a bit. But
you might be able to get a messaging system up and
running. Another great toy for wasting a lot of time
is those Alesis air fx units.
