xl1 rom or techno rom?

xl1 rom or techno rom?

2002-02-07 by coscon23

i need ambient/pad/cool elektro sounds. what's better for this
purpose xl1-rom or techno deconstruction kit-rom?
i've got an audity 2k and today i listened to the xl7 sounds and a
lot seemed to be the same sort of sounds i'm not using from the
audity cause of too trance/techno, though i liked some ofthe
pads/ambient sounds a lot (almost totally non existent in the a2k)...
my hope is that the techno deconstruction kit rom has even more of
those sounds and less a2k/trance/hard techno sounds.

Unless you can find an Audity Xtreme 16mb ROM, you are out of luck.
The ROM's you are asking for will not work in the A2K.

Sorry for the bad news.

sorry i didn't make myself clear... i haven't got a mp7 yet but i'm
gonna buy one and would use one of the roms inthere. or i may go for
an xl7 + phat rom if the techno rom isn't what i'm looking for. i'm
still contemplating which has the least offending colour of the both
too...
by the way... has anybody got a spare A2kXtreme rom lying around?
it's impossible to order here (in Holland that is). my local store
has ordered one for another customer half a year ago and still got
nothing..

Well, when you mentioned the A2K and that you were looking for ROM's,
it's easy to take it the wrong way. Correct about the XL-7, it has
the X-Lead ROM which has updated presets from the Audity but a
majority of the insrtuments are the same. The MP-7 would be your
best choice if you like the style of the Command Stations and then
you can add the Techno ROM to that or any of the other E-MU ROM's
available:
http://www.emu.com/online_shop/byproduct/proteus2500_shop.html

....Or try a different style of module all together that will give
you what your looking for as far as sound preference.

thanx for your answer... i still don't know what kind of sounds are
on the techno board though... i would like ambient/elektro/spaced
out/pad sounds... are there more of this kinds of sounds on the
techno rom compared to the xl rom?
thanx for clearing up the xl1-a2k connection!

peter.

Here is a link to Rob Papen's site. Click on either the Techno or
Beat Garden names to go further. The differences I see since I have
all 3 are that RP focuses on pads and lush presets whereas the X-Lead
ROM is harder with more leads and raw sounds.

Follow the links to locate the mp3 demos for each.
