keyboard transmitting midi out

keyboard transmitting midi out

2005-08-13 by malik

hi i knew that i had this worked out before but i just came from a
long break from music to learn some c++(for music)
and now i dont know how to make the presets transmit midi. i looked
through the manual but didnt find anything. i guess i could just turn
the preset menu volume down but is there another way?

I hope this helps:

=======================================

PRESET = the set of parameters that tell the synth engine how to
construct sound.

One sub-set of preset parameters is called ARP [arpeggiator].

A different preset parameter is RIFF.

Are you trying to send the midi data from (1) the arp, (2) the riff or
(3) both to an external device [sound module]?

At the same time are you wanting the synth engine of your E-Mu to
produce no sound?

=============== OR ====================

Do you want the sequencer to transmit midi data to an external device?

=============== OR ====================

Or do you want to do something different? (And if so, what is it you
are trying to do?)

=======================================

to do so you have to go in pattern menu or global menu
(i don't have the machine with me here)
then scroll to 01 transmit to channel 1A and select
external so midi message is transmitted only to
external device 1A for midi channel A or to anny 32
midi channels .by default is set to both means
internal and external ......

both of these actualy. what i used to do before was have the mp-7 send
midi to an external device via pattern sequences and also have some
channels to play internaly. my problem at the moment is i want to be
able to control some things from the mp-7 but i want to be ablee to
switch the mp7 to tracks where the pads will only transmit internaly.
the dialouge bob was talking about "should" be my answer. cause as far
as i can remember thats what i used to use with no problems. but maybe
my ideas for a setup have gotten more complex im not sure...

coulda swore i just replied to this but the messagge didnt show up.
what i said was this is the dialouge im looking for but for some
reason i cant find it in the midi, controllers, preset, and global
menus. maybe there's something i have enabled that doesnt permit me
to access these options??

Re: keyboard transmitting midi out

2005-08-15 by steve_the_composer

Since I have the P2500 Command Module [no pads] I'm not sure I can
help with the issue of routing the pads, but perhaps this post will
help on the issue of sequencer track assignments:

http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/xl7/message/15914

See also the discussion under the subject "Sequencing Hell."

With the pads, my guess (Can someone else confirm this?) is you want
to have Rechannelize On so they will send midi data to where you want
(either external gear or the internal synth engine) based on your
CHANNEL assignment. (Note: I believe you are talking about CHANNEL
functionality, not TRACK functionality.)

Hope this helps.
