Re: MP7 Master Reset

Re: MP7 Master Reset

2005-02-18 by OutLaw1387@aol.com

Hi Guys, I have a MP7 that when I record a patter and save it the presets
are all wrong. The presets are even off on the patterns that came with the unit.
It's either the presets I save teh pattern with don't load when the pattern
is selected, or the key in which they were played is different. I even loaded
the sequences back to the mp7 (I saved the patterns when the unit was
working fine, via midi to my PC) and that doesn't work. Does anyone know how I can
reset the MP7 back to factory settings. Obviously something is screwed up
and I don't know where to begin. I also tried making a few short patterns, and
after saving them, reboorint the unit and playing back, the key in which they
were played were off.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Power up the unit while holding the cursor keys (< >)down to put the
unit in a diagnostics mode. Scroll with the dial until you get to
reinitialize data and press enter. There is another option to do the
sequence data as well but you might not want to do that. You can
upload the patterns again with E-loader once the presets are put back
to factory specifications.

Although... the factory patterns use the ROM presets, not the user presets,
so unless for some reason the ROM presets are scrambled, resetting the unit
won't do much of anything...

The only way the ROM could be scrambled is for some reason he does
not have the MROM(factory for the MP)and has the PHATT ROM(from the
module)in there. The preset listing was broken down differently for
those two. We don't know if the unit was purchased new or second
hand so it's hard to tell.

Hi Guys, I have the rom that came with the unit. I should add that I sent
the unit off to get repaired cause the scroll was screwed up, along wiht some
other issues, and this is how it came back.
Before I box it up and send it back I would like to try a few things. Not
sure why starting from scratch ala factory resetting it seems like a good
starting point, but what the hell if I end up sending it back to be repaired at
least I wouyld have given it that old college try.

Keep us posted. The knob problem that you referred to was the
encoder problem that was experienced on alot of the modules. I was
able to get a new encoder board for my P2K and I just bent the bi-
metal on the XL to make better encoder contact(transmit) with the
circuit board (receiver)since that one was not soldered on my unit.

I'd like to thank everyone for their help and support. I got my MP7 back to
normal after initializing it. Of course with my luck I selected the option to
initialize the entire unit, and not the one that left the sequences intact. I
restored the sequences from EMU's website and my own which were backed up on
my PC. All is well in the land of "Beat Making" once again. Once again I
thank you all tremendously.

And forthe record, this piece rocks!! makes me want to go buy roms now,
lol...

Now, (lol) Is there a way to delete patterns in one fail swoop, other than
having to erase the events then rename the pattern back to Empty Sequence?

Yep. Copy an empty sequence over the top of it.

Save menu, 2nd screen.
