Pure Phatt ROM vs MP-7

Pure Phatt ROM vs MP-7

2004-01-29 by Fab Claxton

Does anyone have the Pure Phatt ROM, and if so, what is your opinion?
Is it a great ROM for hip hop, or would I be better off just buying
an MP-7? How different are the Pure Phatt ROM from the MP-7? I've
read a few times on here that the MP-7 and the Mophat ROM (the
only "phat" ROM I can find is the Pure Phatt one) are different. What
I would like to do is buy the PX-7 and install the Pure Phatt ROM
(and maybe the Xtreme Lead v2 ROM eventually). Has anyone else done
this? How did it sound? Sorry to keep asking so many questions, but I
haven't been this excited about a piece of gear since I first heard
about the MC-505 (years and years ago.....). The Command Stations
seem PERFECT for what I'm doing.

I have installed Pure Phatt rom in my XL-7. I really like the Hip Hop
drum kits. Also, in the files section of this group you can download the
MP-7 patterns that will work with this Rom on your XL-7.

Go to Command Station folder in the Files section. Look for MP-7
PurePhatt Zip file. You will need Eloader software to put patterns into
your unit. Also, make sure you designate the patterns carefully not to
override patterns you already have.

Jody,
Using the Eloader software to put patterns into the unit will only
load factory-made patters/songs, correct? What I mean is this: if I
were to buy the Pure Phatt ROM, I'd be getting all the tones that
appear on the MP-7 (ie: basses, leads, pads, drums, etc.), but I
wouldn't be getting the factory-made patterns using those sounds,
right? I guess I just want to make sure that E-MU's definition of
patters and patches is the same as Roland's. I could do without
having the patterns from the MP-7, but I would love to have the
patches.
Fab
p.s. I just received some pretty horrible news - not one single store
in Canada carries E-MU products any longer. Hopefully, I can twist
their arms and have them order me one. Either that or eBay might have
to come to my rescue. Damn.......

The zip file I referred to, was created by a member in this group. The
patterns are modified to work with the Pure Phatt rom.

I have an Mp-7 with the P. Drum and XLver2 and Sied Installed.
Sounds great. I also have the patterns from the XL-7 and PX-7
installed. I don't really use them, but they are there and working
fine just in case.

Good to know... I guess pop is like v.2 of composer. That has caused

Re: Pure Phatt ROM vs MP-7

2004-01-30 by steve_the_composer

Compatibility of ROMS, presets, and gear is indeed a fun issue. I
just downloaded a set of composer presets on another board converted
for the P2500 (I believe thanks to Sean!!!!!!) I am still not clear
on the differences between the P2500 ROM (ID=17) and the Proteus Pop
ROM. It seems that the Proteus Pop ROM has 5 banks v. the P2500's 4
banks. It looks like the names of the 1st 4 banks of presets are the
same.

What's the ID of the Proteus Pop? If its also 17, it seems like it
should work (unless the presets in the Proteus Pop have been
drastically mutated).

My P2500 ROM has 1173 ROM-Instruments. How many does the Proteus Pop
ROM have?

Thanks.

No, It's light silver. I was really excited, though, cause I think a
snow white paint job with blue or maybe red screen printing could be
sweet.

Ebay. Might be closer to $400, but if you or anyone else is
interested, we can discuss the details.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
