graphic editor app for command stations!

graphic editor app for command stations!

2003-10-31 by djnorythm

Hey,

I emailed http://www.zuonics.com/ about their editor app for the
emu samplers and asked them to develope a similiar app for
the emu command stations. Here is their reply "How may of you
( i.e command station users ) are there out there? If > 1000, why
not?"

I think that everyone in the group should email Zuonics at
mailto:request@... , to show them that we are very
interested in an emu command station app.

It costs $250 though.
Anyone know if SoundDiver works with the Command Stations?

Yes. No.

And there has been no work done on sound diver since Apple bought logic.
It's probably going to be tanked.

OK ... never mind. I did a search of the archives and there is no
SoundDiver support.

Re: graphic editor app for command stations!

Hey,

Apparently, there is a voodoo sysex problem with the command
stations that emu has not dealt with. Because of this,
Sounddiver or any other editor type app doesn't work with the
command stations.

Will we get another OS. Probably not. Will we get an upgraded
/ more advanced version of e-loader. Probably not. Rom prices
are falling.... Command stations are cheaper... (btw i paid a
grand for mine new .. yikes) Let's see what happens in 2004. ;)

I love my Command Station, but I would truly love a way to edit
most of the parameters via a gui. Emu are you listening? I
hope so.

MOTU's latest Unisyn update claims to handle XL-7 patch editing, but
it's an update to a newer release of Unisyn than I have, so I haven't
checked it out.

This is Mac only, I believe.

Several months ago, I was heavily into the ins and outs of E-Mu sysex
(manual versions 2, 2.1, and 2.2) It had a lot to offer. I had the
feeling it was undergoing revisions, tough.

Is the "voodoo sysex problem" speculation or did someone mention some
spcifics? If so, what?

Thanks.

Re: graphic editor app for command stations!

Hey Steve,

Voodoo as mostly speculation, because SoundDiver refuses to
develope a diver for the command stations until emu gives them
the new sysex info and a command station to build the diver.
That was as of last year.

I also understand that e-loader is limited in what it can do
because of java...ie.... to be able to manipulate presets or multi's.

It is very frustrating, but I am glad to hear that you feel that the
sysex in the command stations is going through revisions and
hopefully in the future an app from emu will be available to
replace / augment e-loader.

it works rather nicely, actually. i use Digital Performer 3.11 and Unisyn
2.0.2 on a Mac G4 (OS 9) and it works really well. added bonus is that the
sound banks are all synced with the patch lists in DP so if editing happens
in Unisyn the patch list in DP reflects any name changes or bank
rearrangement.

too bad my music is still crap. working on that, though.

The bastard of it is that Unisyn sat around on my system being
useless for so long, I gave up on checking for updates long before
release 2 came up.
