my dealer said emu won t give good price to them,so they can only offer me $10-$20 less on a board or cd-rom....no big difference from official emu prices. ...

It does change internal settings as well. MidiA will always do what MidiA says in the patchcords section (usually Fc) no matter what controller number you set

Just playback the midi file from your sequencer to the **-7 and they will appear in the user banks. Check the XL-1 manual to see which banks will be useful

Kamy, If you get the ZR ROM # 9088, which has a GM bank. E-mu has otherwise stayed away(for now)from the whole GM thing.
