The headphones make a cool noise too when you first power it on.  Hmmm....

Anyone ever noticed when you first power up the xx-7 the digital out 
makes crackling noises until the unit warms up. Everything's right on 
my end as far as setting my interface to clock to digital inputs. 
Strange, as the xx-7 warms up the noise seem to decrease??? Anyone?
