i thought i did guess you didnt understand where i was comin from

i could do it in step mode to or just use the note length page but
that just enables me to edit not lengths there and not in gate mode.
and btw i have tried all 4 of the resolutions in  grid record mode and
have the gate up to 100% (please beleive me) but i'm still not getting
anything. 

cmon someone tell me i'm not insane??
