Flash memory / Jog wheel questions

2004-09-15 by Fab Claxton

Hey gang,
The one thing I don't like about the XL-7 is the lack of removable
storage (ie: SmartMedia cards, Zip disks, etc.). Has anyone had any
problems with the internal flash memory? For instance, has anyone
ever turned on their xx-7 to discover that all (or some) of their
patterns/songs have disappeared? I'm probably just worrying for
nothing, but still.....

Also, does anyone else hate the jog wheel as much as I do? When I
turn the knob slowly, sometimes it doesn't even change the preset
number at all. If I speed it up even slightly, it jumps all over the
place (ie: from Preset 1 - bank 0 to Preset 115 bank 3). It's
ridiculous. I don't remember having this problem before I upgraded to
OS 2.0, but maybe I'm not remembering correctly. The problem seems to
be at its worst when I first turn the machine on. After about 10
minutes, the job wheel seems to become a bit more responsive (but not
much). Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, is there a way to
improve it (ie: using Thin Events or some other program function)?

Thanks everyone,
Fab
