BTW, Realm, I recomend that you get a simple with book with just scales, chords and harmony basics, all scales... that way you not only get dexterity but also develop an hear for harmony and musical modes... >>>Well, I started out as a guitar player, and during that time I taught myself music theory up to a college 4 level, so I know all about that kind of stuff already (though admittedly I rarely use it in my EDM). The problem I have now, is that I just physically can't PLAY the ideas I have on a keyboard very well. I'd like to improve my dexterity and chops so that the ideas I have using the techniques you described above can be better translated to the keyboard. If I could find a guitar to MIDI convertor I was really happy with (Yes, tried all the big names already), I probably wouldn't even bother. <<< As far as technic I'm one who thinks that, unless you are going to be a classical or sight reading piano player, is best just to learn by doing that way you sound different from everybody else... >>>This is actually far more important to me as well, and is the number one reason I won't take lessons. Too often they use other people's music as a means to learn, not understanding that I'm really only interested in the technique, not in paying other people's songs. People have always commented that my guitar playing and songs writing has a very unique style to it, and it's something I'd like to continue to push. Thanks for the ideas though! <<< rEalm [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
