Analogueslowmotion.mp3

2002-11-21 by its_peake

Hi, if someone has this mp3 (no longer found in the Files
section), please email it to Konkuro/Johnm. It's beautiful
and a good example of the clarity and character of the Wiard,
as well as of the systems' capacity for "tonal music". Is it
100% Wiard? I want to know how to do that kick drum.

Easier,

-Mike

Ah, thanks! Direct link:

http://www.wiard.com/samples/samples.html

And there it is, right at the top left. The
kick was indeed done on the Wiard. Impressive :-)

-Mike

This can be found on the Wiard site's "Sounds" page. Don't know about
that kick, though...

Re: Analogueslowmotion.mp3

Hi!

I did that Kickdrum with the Wiard-Omni-Filter. All the tracks on
that excerpt are from a 6-Module System (I just had the six-module-
system then). There is just one pad which isn't Wiard, but it was
heavily processed with the Omnifilter (Allpass-Mode) with high
resonance. I am not 100% sure, but I guess there is also a hint of a
Compressor on my Kickdrum (DBX160SL!).

On my album (smoo - traffic in my soul), I did almost all the drums
(and the other tracks!) from scratch with Wiard (11 Modules now),
Blacet and some good outboard. The CD should be available very soon.

I still should have that Kickdrum-track somewhere on a harddisk, if I
find it, I'll put it into files section.

You will get another very good and punchy Kickdrum with the Wiard
Omnifilter in High-pass Mode.

Hi Olivier! Good to hear from you. I can't wait for your CD
(congrats!)

Did you send a DC transient into the audio input with the
resonance just under self-oscillation? Or was it already
self-oscillating and you modulated the Fc a bit?

Sweet.

Easier,

-Mike

Re: Analogueslowmotion.mp3/Character of the Wiard in the mix

2002-11-28 by waveform100

Hey Mike,

sorry, after hundrets of patches for my album I completely forgot How
I did that Kikdrum, I just know the Omnifilter was a big part. It
wasn't self-oscillating and it was a early version of the Omnifilter
without linear Resonance (but the diffrence is small), I have both
Omnifilters and love them both. Oh, one thing I remember: As you know
me, I feedbacked both Envelopes to play with diffrent decay-
characters. Very helpful is also the VCA (Mixolator) with the
variation from lin to log.

BTW: you say the Wiard has a clear character. I agree, but it is
extremely warm and clear. A special mix and that's why I honestly
don't know any Synth with a similar sound. I know not everybody will
agree with me, but the ones having a Wiard know what I mean. A
ongoing surprise for me is its behaviour in the mix. I have good
Outboard-EQ's, but with the Wiard I tend to use them in a more
creative way (or not at all), because in most cases it isn't
necessary to cut the sound for the mix.

BTW: Mike, I am on the same label as Suzanne Ciani, the famous female
Buchla-Expert (neuronium).

Hi Olivier, thanks regardless!
I look forward to your CD. Thanks
for the observations on the Wiard.

Grant, them's better not be signs
and portents. Gotta give me time
to grow money again and acquire
a Wiard. (Chant: "Acquire a Wiard."
Repeat as neccessary.)

Easier,

-Mike

BTW, art is forever. Technology always
advances, but art is immortal. Congrats
on an amazing system.
