Making Water

2001-05-15 by Roy Harter

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know how to make a dribbling/ dropping water sound effect
patch with their MOTM? If you have any ideas please let me know. I
know I have all the modules I need to do it. I just want to know if
there is a more efficient way of linking the modules. I think I am
using more modules in the patch than I actually need. The wetter the
better. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Sincerely,
ROY HARTER

If it were me, I'd begin with a percussive amplitude envelope, very sharp
attack, fast decay, zero sustain.

I'd probably start with a Sine from a VCO, being swept with another EG,
starting low and quickly rising to supersonic just as the amplitude envelope
goes quiet.

With an LFO also modulating the VCO just a little bit, you could make it so
that every drop was just a little different in pitch.

Maybe a very short, subtle white noise chiff at the start would help, too.
Noise should probably be highpass filtered. Experimentation would be needed,
but that's how I'd start.

I would only add that a touch of reverb could enhance the patch
wonderfully...
