Folks, I'd like some extra cards for my SDS7. Currently I have the standard bass, snare, 3 toms and hi hat. Ideally I'd like an extra 3 tom cards and one of those double snare cards (do I need a special pad for that snare card?)but failing that would be open to whatever anyone has go to offer. I'd also like another selector pad as my current one is slowly dying and best thus l that I get another selector pad as a backup. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks & regards, Rob.

It's possible to repair your selector pad. The interior of it makes a grid
pattern. Selecting a kit involves pressing two lines together to complete
the circuit at one of sixteen points. When hairline cracks develop in these
lines, adjacent intersections don't connect as they should causing
intermittent connections or none at all.
Also, the multi-EPROM cards are utilized by using the resonance of the
filter as a selector. Don't quote me; I haven't used my quad-EPROM card in
years. But, you don't need a dual output pad to use a multi-EPROM card. In
fact, a dual trigger pad wasn't manufactured by Simmons until '86 (SDS-9),
or so, other than the cymbal they made for the SDS-V.
As for additional cards, I may have what you need. Contact me off list
for those.

How do you go about getting to the grid lines? Is there an easy way to remove the pad surface from the case without destroying it? Please advise. You are correct: a standard module fitted with a 2085 daughter card can hold 4 eproms which are selectable via the 'Resonance' control. The downside is you lose 'Resonance' programmability. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Simmons_Drums/photos/album/114207822/pic/list There is also the Dual Sample Module which holds 2 eproms that are dynamic dependent. Meaning, you program a threshold where the module switches from eprom 1 to eprom 2. The downside is you lose the analog section. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Simmons_Drums/photos/album/2082012503/pic/list --- In Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com, sovereigng@... wrote:

Ed, As for the selector: I forget how to do it. I repaired one for someone back in '03. I'd have to take mine apart to rediscover how to do it. At this time I'm slowly moving back to NYC and my stuff is scattered. My three SDS-7s (two currently in operation) and half of my tools are in NJ and my selector pad is in NY with the rest of my tools. I can revisit this post and offer a hack tutorial or repair it for you if you want to send it. Thanks for clarifying regarding the multi-EPROM cards. In a message dated 6/4/2011 3:52:19 P.M.
