I consider it the best drum synth in my arsenal and it's a rare beast, but no, I wouldn't pay that kind of money for it. I thought I spent good money for a broken one, but that came with pads, manuals and even receipt. On the other hand, same things can be said about Minimoogs changing owners at 2500 euros or more. -- electronically yours, jesper - -- --- ---- ----- ---- --- -- - www.electronic-obsession.se www.myspace.com/machinepop Berk Aarts skrev:

The buyer will have fun till the end of his life. Therefor it is more or less a bargain. God, I am glad that I invested my money in Simmons gear rather than stocks --- In Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com, jesper <jesper@...> wrote:

> Hi Group, I recently won the sds3 from Ryan on ebay, None of the channels work correctly or even near correctly, all channels do make a sound of sorts but its VERY obvious its very sick, sounds awful, i know what sds3's are supposed to sound like and this is just obviously broken. I presumed from the auction description that it was working, I just emailed Ryan to let him know it was broken and I feel ripped off, he replied saying: --------------------------- Hi robert, Im sorry to hear your not happy with the SDS3. Firstly let me say I have and never will seek to 'rip anyone off' and im not happy at such insinuation. Secondly Im more than happy with the description i gave while advertising the SDS3. I have read over it and it's thorough, descriptive and a totally honest assessment of what state the machine is in given to the best of my limited drum synth and electronic knowledge. If you read the description again you will see i state quite clearly that i am neither an expert on drum synths,SDS3's or electronics. I state clearly the fact i have no knowledge of a fully working SDS3 other than the research i did while listing the machine.I tested the SDS3 to the best of my ability and gave a 100% accurate description of its current functionality.Testament to the comprehensive description i gave is that despite over 500 views and at one time 40 watches i received not one question about the machine other than about postage and that includes from you. If you already own two SDS3's you are obviously far more informed as i am to the functionality of them but at the same time, clearly aware of the problems that come with an analogue synth built by hand in the early 80's. I even acknowledge some of the caps would need replacing. Unless your telling me the machine is 100% dead, if i did have any sound recordings they would only confirm the current state the machine was in when it left my possession, and that it probably is in now. Let me stress again, i have had this machine for 15, 16 years and never used it as im not an enthusiast.I Cleaned it up and gave an accurate description with plenty of warnings, advice and disclaimers. Im sure you would have picked up that im not an expert as i stated such, so im confused as to why, given you knowledge of SDS3's in owning two of them you never raised any questions with me before bidding. Im sorry you feel 'ripped off' but i stand by my description and honesty. - ryanforrest ------------------------- I think this is a joke considering hes had it all that time, I think he would or should have worked out by now it doesnt work ! Not even an offer to pay for its repair. but maybe im too emotional having plonked all that money down on it which is why I thought Id see what you guys think about it, maybe I just wanted to believe it was working so much I couldnt see that it was broken by the description. Any thoughts much appreciated, Thank you, Robert.

Sad story men, but please keep it between you two and maybe Ebay. No need to make people look bad here on the list. If it's broken, negotiate a part refund. It's not rocket science to fix. Thew one I bought had three broken channels and it's standard components beneath the shiny surface. just my two cents, -- electronically yours, jesper - -- --- ---- ----- ---- --- -- - www.electronic-obsession.se www.myspace.com/machinepop flowline skrev:

Ouch, this hurts. It's a bit odd story, but then again, that's the risk you take. So I'm not gonna cry with you. Hope you understand. Had this once, it really is a fucked up feeling, but I should have known better, had a kind off gut feeling something was a bit wrong. I got greedy and took the risk, wrong Berk

Anyone concider a nasty shock from transport ?
I too was told my sds7 was fine when i had it shipped from south Korea .
If it wasn't for Michael's help i'd still be crying in my sleep .
There is always a risk to take just like Berk says .
I truely hope you find a solution soon , I'm sure meny here understand what you're going through .
Have a nice weekend guys

That's the way to send such machines. :) I prefer the SDS-V where the cards are mounted deeper inside the case. There was no damage to the package or the sds3, nothing had come loose inside the sds3, theres nothing really to come loose anyway apart from the transformer and that was fine. Anyway ryan refuses to contribute anything pay for any repairs, so we will see what Paypal make of it, he says they will be on his side.

Hi!
I'm looking for a SDS6, the SDSV suitcase and 2 yellow pads. I'm an
happy drummer, i play a beautifull SDSV with 7 modules (HH and Cymbal
inclued) and 5 yellow pads. Do U have an idea. And if someone are
interested, i have 2 SDS1 in black, 3 pads of SDSV Mark I but
without rubber surface, juste wood (in black & blue) and one SDS9 with
6 pads in white.
cheers.
