[Simmons Drums] sds-3, was broken

Hi Group,

I recently won the sds3 from Ryan on ebay,
None of the channels work correctly or even near correctly, all
channels do make a sound of sorts but its VERY obvious its very sick,
sounds awful, i know what sds3's are supposed to sound like and this
is just obviously broken.
I presumed from the auction description that it was working, I just
emailed Ryan to let him know it was broken and I feel ripped off, he
replied saying:

Hi robert,
Im sorry to hear your not happy with the SDS3.
Firstly let me say I have and never will seek to 'rip anyone off' and
im not happy at such insinuation.
Secondly Im more than happy with the description i gave while
advertising the SDS3. I have read over it and it's thorough,
descriptive and a totally honest assessment of what state the machine
is in given to the best of my limited drum synth and electronic
knowledge.
If you read the description again you will see i state quite clearly
that i am neither an expert on drum synths,SDS3's or electronics. I
state clearly the fact i have no knowledge of a fully working SDS3
other than the research i did while listing the machine.I tested the
SDS3 to the best of my ability and gave a 100% accurate description of
its current functionality.Testament to the comprehensive description i
gave is that despite over 500 views and at one time 40 watches i
received not one question about the machine other than about postage
and that includes from you.
If you already own two SDS3's you are obviously far more informed as i
am to the functionality of them but at the same time, clearly aware of
the problems that come with an analogue synth built by hand in the
early 80's. I even acknowledge some of the caps would need replacing.
Unless your telling me the machine is 100% dead, if i did have any
sound recordings they would only confirm the current state the machine
was in when it left my possession, and that it probably is in now.
Let me stress again, i have had this machine for 15, 16 years and
never used it as im not an enthusiast.I Cleaned it up and gave an
accurate description with plenty of warnings, advice and disclaimers.
Im sure you would have picked up that im not an expert as i stated
such, so im confused as to why, given you knowledge of SDS3's in
owning two of them you never raised any questions with me before
bidding. Im sorry you feel 'ripped off' but i stand by my description
and honesty.

I think this is a joke considering hes had it all that time, I think
he would or should have worked out by now it doesnt work !
Not even an offer to pay for its repair.
but maybe im too emotional having plonked all that money down on it
which is why I thought Id see what you guys think about it, maybe I
just wanted to believe it was working so much I couldnt see that it
was broken by the description.
Any thoughts much appreciated,

Thank you,
Robert.
