Re: [ModularSynthPanels] Digest Number 324

I hope to have Tau Pipe panels in three weeks. I meet w/ my metal guys
on Monday.

So far on this run:
Tau Pipe
DotCom Optic CV Processor
DotCom Wave Multipliers

I have room for a couple more. What would you like to see? MFOS
filters? Oakley stuff I'm missing?

Cheers,

Re: [ModularSynthPanels] Digest Number 324

I bought a Tau PCB, but I'm not sure what I want to do with it.

Anyway, since you asked, I would like to see a 1U MOTM format panel
for the CGS65 Tube VCA/Timbral Gate.

http://www.cgs.synth.net/modules/cgs65_vca.html

I bought all the parts (there aren't many) including the tubes (I got
15, so I'll have 14 spares :) but I haven't had any time to work on
it. Not that it looks like it would be difficult to build.
Overall, it seems a very useful and cost-effective module that could
become very popular if a panel were available.

Tube VCA:
So what kind of layout would you like to see? A simple 1U or maybe a 2U
w/ a window for the tube? Since the tube doesn't glow, that may be a
bit odd, but, you know, "the funk is its own reward".

I prefer to keep the funk in my music :)

I also never understood why some designers like to show off tubes
through little windows. It's not like they are interesting to watch.
imho.

Anyway, I think that a 1U panel that was essentially half of the 2U
panel Richard Brewster used for his dual unit would work fine:

http://www.pugix.com/bottom-cabinet-lower.htm#tubevca

If one were to saw it in half, then drill the screw holes in each new
corner, that would work :)

The only modification I can think of at the moment would be a switch
(added to left side, between the pots like an MOTM 190 VCA) for
changing the grid bias.

Just download the FPD file. It's not too hard to make a 1U from this
with the FPD program. Download one of my 1U panels if you want to check
the exact width and mounting hole placement.

Thanks, but unfortunately the FPD program is not available for my platform.
