place it as far as you can from any electronic circuits and 
components. And get a battery with at lease the same Ah value and 
exact voltage value. After replacing, let the synth work for at least 
a few hours.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
