MIS refillable spongeless carts

2006-01-25 by chwhitaker

I'm looking at the MIS refillable spongeless carts as an alternative
to pre-filled. I have a few questions:

1. How long will a 4 oz bottle of ink last? I assume that after a
while the pigment particles start to drop out of suspension.

2. Has anyone recently reported damage to their printer after using
the chip resetter? I seem to remember hearing of such cases several
years ago, but assume that it was an earlier model of chip resetter.
Or I'm remembering wrong. I'm using an Epson 1280.

Thanks to whomever can help.

The spongeless carts are a dream compared to the old refill system. Other
than a (pre-existing) bad clog I'm struggling with, they work great on my
1280. I use the SSC utility to reset via software--I see no need to buy
hardware resetters.

Agitate the bottles. Then they'll last a very long time.

I've never heard of this.

Sometimes a chip won't reset or otherwise goes bad, so I do recommend people
have extra chips on hand. (The usual problem recently is a chip marked
Yellow is Light Cyan, or the like.)
