Newbies Welcome?

Newbies Welcome?

2003-08-05 by Frank & Susan Malinowski

I just joined a couple days ago as a result of buying my 14 year old son a
used DTXpress (I, not II) . He has been taking drum lessons for a couple
years and his last drum was a Roland RMP-1, a single V Drum. This is what
he had at home, his school had acoustic drums. He is a bit overwhelmed by
what the DTX can do. I can't seem to get him off the drum to do anything
around the house :) . I'm sure we will have some more serious questions but
we don't want to be locked out with the changes in list management. A few
easy questions: Is there a FAQ? Are past messages searchable? (Hate to
waste everyone's time going over well worn issues.) And does anyone know if
the Roland RMP-1 can be hooked into the DTX system? My son thought of using
it as a snare on its own stand.

Regards,

Frank

To plow back through the archives, all you have to do is type the
keyword(s) into the SEARCH ARCHIVES box & submit your query. As
large as this group is, and with the number of messages that have
been posted, you're right, many of your questions may have already
been asked & answered. Still, please don't let that stop you from
firing away, okay?

I know what you mean about getting a kid away from a drum set,
especially e-drums. Once they get those headphones on they're in a
world of their own, aren't they? I drove my parents (& the next door
neighbors) nuts practicing when I first started 40+ years ago. No
headphones & e-drums back then. LOL!

I can't answer your other questions. I don't have a DTXpress set-up
(I practice on my Roland V-Drums), but these guys are kind enough to
let me hang out with them despite that. :o)

Someone will answer your questions for you though. Just check back
in a couple times a day.

Hi Frank,

Welcome, welcome, 1000 times welcome. We kids on this board are very
familiar with e-drum mania. When I first got mine, no one saw me for
days. Your son will recover from it, but you'll have to remind him to
eat and drink for a while. As Zilla said, the archive functions as a
FAQ, but you can ask us anything at any time. Usually during the day
and into the night, answers come pretty quickly. If they don't come
immediately, they will eventually. But don't hesitate to remind us if
necessary.

I am not familiar with the Roland RMP-1, though I am familiar with
just about all of Roland's current line. I'll check on it for you.
But if it has a 1/4" output, chances are it will work with the
DTXpress module. The only problem that Rolands sometimes have when
connected to Yamaha electronics is a weak signal, but it's not always
the case. You cannot harm either the pad or the module by giving it a
try.

No matter what changes occur at the site, you will not be locked out
of your current membership (unless you start spamming us). Again,
welcome. Use the resources mercilessly. In the meantime, I'll try to
locate some information about the RMP-1, unless someone here beats me
to it.

If the group goes to a restricted list, it will only affect people who want
to join and not current members, like yourself. As a current member you have
full access to the group and it's postings and that will not change.
