I don't have a Q,but I do have the Micro Q and XT.The first thing I
noticed when comparing the Waldorf sound to the Andromeda is that
they share some common ground, both have great pads,as well as
strings, and basses. After a while,I began to notice the Waldorf pads
have a somewhat digital graininess to them, while the Andromeda's pads
were more smooth in texture. I like both, and there's a place in music
for all sounds. The Andromeda does better leads, period. The Waldorfs
leads, even the ones emulating analog, just don't sound as good. Both
machines have(Q and A6)their own good and bad points, but if you can
afford to have them both, you can cover a lot of sonic
territory.Weren't the Q and Andromeda both designed by Axel
Hartmann, maker of the new Neuron synth?

Actually the MicroQ and Q have the same technology inside each other...
appart some other precisions.
So your answer has some importance.
Problem i wouldn't be able to keep both... but i would be happy of course
like most of you would. =: )
Well i can actually but my money economies in bank would get very low.

Ahhhhh i have to check this thing about Hartmann...
It's important i think.
Thanks

Axel Hartmann is one industrial designer, so its true about the
"External Shell" of the synths...in that regard I think he is more
successful with the Waldorf designs...I never liked the A6
looks...thats why I got one alternative front pannel and got into the
trouble of changing that...

In sound I think there is not a lot of common ground (except that
they are all "not the MW" subtractive synths with a lot of modulation
power) and for pads (warm smooth ones) I do think there is no
comparison between the Q and A6...the A6 its a master piece...

RE: [Andromeda_A6] Re:Andromeda really good to get

There is a lot of similarities between the Q and MicroQ, but
attention that there are some substancial differences, not only in
synthesis power (namely at the filters and their combinations, but
also, very clearly in my opinion in the smoothness of the sound, the
micro seems even more agressive and is never capable to achieve the Q
smoothness (I don't know if this has to do with sonic quality of the
converters or on the algorithms side, I guess its the later)...the Q
has more than twice the DSP power and a lot less voices...this must
mean something...

About leads...I have to confess that it really depends, because while
for the more smooth wistling leads, like the "old" mono moogs, than
the A6 is way better but I have, and there are on the net, some Q
leads that are fantastic...one of them, I do not recall names, its
one of my favourites of all time, much like some I could get with the
old roland SH1 , quite "hip-hop/rap" leads from the 80's.

Hey Paulo,

Do you have any picture from your changed front panel A6???
I am curious to see that.
=: )
