the SOS 200e review is filled with so many technical inaccuracies and biased opinions that I would hardly base a purchase on what it has to say.

you would think a large publication like Sound on Sound would employ people to check their facts prior to print. it appears not to be the case however, as far as the 200e review is concerned

shame, I was looking forward to it.

I kind of agree with this The guy doesn't have to like it - he's perfectly
free to pan something if it's not his cup of tea. Everyone has biases
however, although I guess reviewers have more of an obligation to thwart
those off than bloggers do. Inaccuracy is another issue and a real problem
for me in journalism.

Re: [200e] s0s review?

2005-11-28 by Jan-Hinnerk Helms

Hi,

I have been a lurker here for quite some time, and having read the
first part of the SOS review I feel the need to write.

The "biased opinions" in an article are one thing, and although I
expect a reviewer to get rid of these or at least mark them as such,
people are entitled to them.

But "technical inaccuracies" are another thing, and I think it would
really help all of us around here if you pointed out and corrected
the article's technical inaccuracies that are directly related to the
200e here for us.

Thanks in advance,
Jan-Hinnerk

I second this.

I own a mid-size system (259e's, 292e's, 281e's, 225e, 227e, 210e, 255
and 291e) and certainly am aware of some issues that I hope are just a
software update away from being solved.
The plywood issue doesn't bother me one bit.
The wobbly knobs were a little unsettling at first, but I've also
noticed some of them you can actually push/click to access additional
menus, so I guess that is the explanation for the wobble.

My biggest (personal) peeve is the aliasing, which will fortunately be
a thing of the past with the 261e. I must confess, though, some of
these waves, when you find a "sweet spot", can be beautiful and wicked
(if that makes any sense to you!) at the same time..

Another was the nonconventional tracking of the osc. (1.2 V/oct), but
as I explained before, there's a quick fix by using a scaling
processor.

I love the 227e..........
