Midi  out of xl-7 to midi in on e5000.  then set the track to ext and 
the correct midi channel that your samples are on.  nothing ot it 
really.

I have an MP-7 hooked up to an E6400 Ultra.  What do you want to 
know?  

I have the MP-7 controlling various paramaters on the E6400 (you have 
to go in there and make sure that eh E6400 is set to recieve the same 
CC controllers as the command station is outputting. 

I've also set it up to trigger samples from the trigger buttons.  
This is pretty easy to set up as well.

Any chance you can upload MP preset banks?  At least one user has an 
XL-7 with a ROM pulled from her Mo'Phatt.
