Very cool man, glad we have someone here who knows this stuff. It gets a
bit deep for me at one point and then I can't be bothered ;) The Multi
utility sounds very cool, as would a way to do the same with Presets. DOS
or not, let me know if I can help at all, very interested in this!

Additional thought: From a studio/performance standpoint, the way E-
Mu did this (multis going to buffer) makes sense in that you would
seem to be able to change multis on the fly from an external device.
Also, the sysex manual has several dump formats related to multisetup
dumps. (This is more than you probably need to know).
(1) Multimode map dump: ". . . a minimal set of parameters used to
configure multimode operation."
(2) Setup Dump containing master settings (except program/preset map
and tuning tables).
I suspect the send current multisetup function dump is either a
VARIATION of or the same as (2). The sysex manual confirms that only
the current setup can be dumped.
There are sysex commands to copy the Master Setup (2) to and from the
Setup Edit Buffer. So, it MIGHT be possible to automate the process
of saving Master Setups in a midi file, or with a program that
receives and sends sysex data/commands.
I am trying to get back into midi programming with a mind towards
writing some nifty utilities for the current Proteus line. Perhaps
my first test will be a program to get, save, load, and put banks of
multisetup. (I've done assembly langauge midi bulk data dump
programming for the Commodore 64 and for MS-DOS.
I don't know if I want to tackle a Windows User inteface. So I'll
either do it an MS-DOS utility or try to find someone who does
Windows. (Sorry, no Mac.)
