Here's pics of my new studio, post-move: http://www.angelfire.com/realm/2gstratus/InnerPortal.htm This is list related, since it's where we'll be having the XL-7 meet :) The nasty colored carpet will hopefully be gone by then too! rEalm [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Nice studio! One thing, and I could be wrong, and if so, this will make for a good discussion anyway. the foam squares on the sides, i.e. on the walls to the right and left of the speakers (not the wall behind them) seem a little high. I would think that since they serve to quell side reflections from the speakers, that they be at the same height as the speakers. or maybe it doesn't matter . . .

Technically, it may be better to have them exactly at the same level as the speakers. But there was aesthetic and practical considerations that caused me to change this configuration. Namely, I tried to actually center the panels vertically on the walls above the tables and couch. Since the goal of the panels is mostly to absorb high end frequecies and prevent slapback, I figured that they would have a better chance of doing that as centered as possible on the untreated sections of the walls. Once those were in place, placing the other panels at any other hieght made the whole room look thrown together, and honestly after playing with the positions some, it made very little difference to my ears. As long as they were on the walls close to the right spot, the differences were negligible. As long as you're in the sweetspot, or close to it, the initial reflections aren't the main issue. It's the extended reflections from the overall room that had to be tamed. rEalm Nice studio! Hehe, I'm a neat freak to begin with, so that's not an issue. I've only been in the new place a week as of yesterday, so it hasn't even had a chance to get dirty yet :) rEalm How in hell do you keep it that clean? [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
