Huh, interesting article here. Though I have to say, after auditioning the KRK V8's and the
Mackie HR 824's among others at Guitar Center last month, I came away with highest praise for the
KRK's out of the whole bunch. So much so that I now own a pair. In the article, the Mackie's get
the highest marks while the KRK's get the lowest. Go figure...

At the Namm show a few years ago I was really impressed by the KRK's, especialy since they sounded great even with all the tons of background noise. I was truly impressed with how they sounded till I realized that for them to sound that good in that kind of setting they had a seperate sub running and some serious artificial sweetening of the original music. Let us know what you think of them in a few months. Everyone else at the show was using Genelec's, though that could be because Genelec's are distributed by Digidesign or they were enlisted by the show to do the sound. Also after discussing this with several professional installation people, I found out that the mackies are basically a cheap knockoff of the Genelecs, with the same basic audio properties but signifigantly more ear strain. Not that the Mackies aren't a signifigant improvement on anything at that price point, they are. Just adding some info, do with it what you will. Andre
