List Announcement from rEalm

List Announcement from rEalm

2003-05-27 by erik_magrini@Baxter.com

Hey all,

Just wanted to send you all a quick message based on some disturbing
things I had to deal with this AM. I know many of you have questions
about your Command Stations, and it's fairly obvious that I post a lot of
answers on here to those questions. However, I just need to stress that I
am NOT part of Emu tech support, just a regular user like you all who
likes to check his email as often as my job allows and help other people
out. Why am I stating this? Because I came back from a nice long holiday
weekend to LARGE amount of emails from people privately asking for XX-7
help off list, which I normally don't mind at all. What I do mind, is
people impatiently DEMANDING that I answer their questions asap, and
sending me repeated requests in the most insulting and derogatory manner
I've ever seen. Please, if you want help, I'm more than happy to do what
I can, but only if you ask in a courteous manner. If I'm not answering
your emails, don't assume I'm ignoring you, or start repeatedly sending
the same email again, and again, and again, etc. My work has had some
issues with our email lately, and occasionally I don't get some or I'm
just not here to get your requests.

What was most surprising, was the number of people telling me flat out
they haven't even read the manual yet, and then asking really basic
questions. It's one thing for the people who don't have XX-7's yet and
only want to know if it can do x, y or z. But if you already own the
unit, you really owe it to yourself to at least try and find the answers
in the manual before you ask on the list. I understand that some people
learn better by asking, but I had so many questions to go through this
morning, and many of them were no-brainers (even for a newbie) had they
opened the manual and at least read the first couple of chapters.
Additionally, don't forget that you can search the list archives, looks in
the files section for answers and additional documents, and that there's
an FAQ I've created too. All of these you can access here:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xl7/

Again, I don't mind people asking for help, but please do so in a nice
way, and have some patience as well. Thanx, and sorry to bug the list
with this, but there were SO many extremely rude emails this morning, and
many of them from people who have been on the list for some time and
should know better ;)
Thanx all,
rEalm
(obviously this doesn't apply to everyone that sent me emails over the
weekend, I don't mean to imply that for those of you that were asking for
help in a nice way.)

Yo I feel you rEalm, you are an excellent resource and a valuable asset to
users and EMU. I myself was misinterpreted demanding info about my Rubber Pad
assembly which by the way I have not been able to find cheaper. Anyway, I
apologized but IM glad u pointed it out to me and everyone on this list. Keep
doing your thing and don't let it discourage u man. You are appreciated.

to Realm, I feel ya! I have just joined this group and appreciate your wisdom and knowledge on the command station. But, I intend on reading the manual thoroughly before flooding the list with questions that may be answered by the manual, simple experince, or the EMU web-site. Don't get too frustrated with us - thanks

Indeed - you're aid is much appreciated rEalm. Also, I apologize
for my little flurry of questions - I've been working through the
manual and often I end up asking questions I've gone through and
simply forgotten (or are 'newer' features because of the OS
upgrades - I'm going through 3 updates' worth of features so it gets
rough cross-referencing it mentally)

In any case, thanks for your help, and everyone else here for that
matter. Less than a week and I'm already rolling along at a much
faster pace than I'd expected.

When I posted my last message , I wasn't aware of what was going
on...........I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE IT !!!
I hope you don't forget , because of a bunch of assholes , that many
people here , have much much respect for you , and for what you have
done for this place !
If by chance I manage to identify one of these 'dogs that bite the
hands that feed', stepping around here....I will take care of him !
(am I starting a war ? .....No ...Not at all .....This is not the
purpose of this place) But it's always sad to see an altruistic
behaviour so badly rewarded !!...........

Talk soon !
