sampling...

sampling...

2003-05-10 by lostusomewhere2003

Hi, does anyone know if/when we'll be able to save samples in the
command stations without having to burn roms from and ultra
sampler??? i cannot afford an ultra, and i do not know anyone who has
one...and i DO NOT want to rid myself of my XL, but really want to
use my own samples....oh, X-Mix ROCKS!!!!! reminds me of my old MC-
505 megamix...xcept that thing was just a toy..hehehe, thanks y'all.

Since it hasn't happened yet, I would assume never.

In any case, for a little more than the price of the 32 meg flash ram, you can get yourself a decent rackmount sampler with a great deal more memory, a hard drive and lots of other good stuff...

i suppose you're right...but it would be nice to have a
few 'personal' samples to work with within the box...hmm, heard a
rumour somewhere that future udates may allow storage of samples
through e-loader onto a free rom slot...peculiar...has anyone ever
heard of this? or just random ramblings?

I don't know about elsewhere in the world, but in Europe the E-MU
E5000 is sold for close to nothing, given it's capabilities (let alone
building custom flash memories for the Command Stations).

With EOS 4.7 FAT32 support, should be cool. :)

I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...

Yes, I hear this a lot.

However, considering that the guy's who would bring this about
are on this list, and they've never mentioned it, it's safe to assume
that this is whole bunch of wishful thinking.

Additionally, considering how much they packed into the last
update, you'ld think that the would have taken care of a function as
basic as sampling before now.

man...you can sample with a emu xtultra series sampler
burn it to a rom and load it in your mp7/xl7.
whenever you want....if you REALLY need it.
buy a sampler and a rom chip.
you'll be set.

It's not possible without an Ultra. Period, ever.

Just random ramblings, I don't think we'll see it ever in the future. Damn

i suppose you're right...but it would be nice to have a
few 'personal' samples to work with within the box...hmm, heard a
rumour somewhere that future udates may allow storage of samples
through e-loader onto a free rom slot...peculiar...has anyone ever
heard of this? or just random ramblings?

I was a rep for E-mu until last year, and I know that there were
plans for a new sp1200 type box. Basically it was going to be a
command station with sampling. But from what they were saying it
should have been out by now. Who knows if they're still working on
it.

thanks for the info...but yeah, electronic music companies...you
never know if things have been shelved or if they're still fine
tuning it...as Rolands new box has it's fair share of problems out of
the box..anyway..i'll be happy with my XL for a while...picking up a
sampler soon so now i'll have a duo tons better than say a 909, or
anything like it. as for the new emu box, if they ever do release it,
it had better beat my XL and rack sampler for me to even consider
trading up....
