Disappearing arps...

Disappearing arps...

2003-04-02 by soundcrafter

I'm still beating my head against the wall on this one... I've
flipped thru the manuals I have, I've tried various settings in the
master and preset arp menus, different methods of triggering, and I
still get the same result.

Before I d/led 1.32 it would happen *anytime* I switched tracks, but
now it only happens if I have the track with the arp selected, then
change to a different one. Even if I just go *by* it (using the data
wheel or track select buttons) on the way to some other track, it
goes out.

Realm, you said this doesn't happen on your machine... So am I the
only one who's running into this or what? When I'm just playing out
at home, it's a little annoying, but not really a big deal. But in a
recording or live play situation it's not too cool.

I'm sure I'm missing something, but I just can't figure out *what*
Any suggestions you can offer would be appreciated :)

If I have a arpeggiated preset playing on a track with that track
selected, then I switch to a different track in mid-pattern, the
track with the arp goes silent until the pattern loops back to the
beginning.

All my arps are set up as part of the preset... I wasn't even
aware you could set up an arp in the pattern edit screens.

Maybe it has something to do with the way I trigger it... I go into
step record, put in a single note where I want the arp to begin, then
go into the Pattern edit menu and use the NOTE function to lengthen
the note so the arp plays for the length of the pattern. Should I be
using a different approach here?

>>>Damn bro that sucks big time, I can honestly say I've never seen this,
but that doesn't mean much because we could be working totally differently
too. Is this ONLY in step record that this happens? How long are the
notes you're entering that way? If they're longer and fairly easy to
play, have you tried recording while manually playing them? Maybe go back
and fix any mistakes in List Edit and see if that helps? I know when I
sequence arps, it's mainly measure long notes that I just hold down while
recording. I find a good measure, then copy that over the rest of my
pattern. <<<

If you have EVERYTHING backed up, maybe try resetting the machine to it's
default settings too. Then reload the OS, and then all your stuff
(Patterns, Presets, etc). Drastic I know, but it's the only other thing I
can think of short of sending it to be serviced, which no one wants.

You've found a bug! With Rechannelize ON, switching away from a track
playing an arp kills the arp till the next trigger note. I just fixed
it. Congratulations on finding the very last bug to be fixed in 2.00!

LOL Wow, how about that...

I feel special now :)

I'm glad that 1) it wasn't *me* doing something dumb and 2) it will
be fixed!

Way to go Jackass... now we all have to wait until this bug fix /
regression tests etc go through QA!!!!

Seriously though ... I'm just kidding ... I'm very happy OS 2.0 will
now be more robust thanks to your vigilance :)

LOL yeah, that had occurred to me too.. sorry group... :)

But I'm still glad my arps will play right. Of course, I haven't
been waiting as long as some of you have either :)

hee hee... don't worry, this is one of those very localized things that
doesn't require full regression testing! You should have an OS
verrrrrrrry soon...

I took a very quick look at this after reading rEalms reply to you.
And it seemed that when i was using one of the ARP: presets there
was no disappearing arp problem! I guess that this is due to the
arp being saved with the preset but I am not totaly sure about
that. I don't know if there is any other difference between the
patches.

I bet we will get you sorted out pretty soon :)
