I'm off...

2003-03-07 by erik_magrini@Baxter.com

Hey all,

I'm off on vacation in a couple minutes time, so if anyone needs to reach
me for anything, please wait until March 17th.

Thanx, and have a good one!

Real-time resonance modulation

2003-03-08 by Wesley D

I'm wondering if this is really possible. Try to do a resonance 'sweep'. Just like you would do with a filter. It seems that res changes do not kick in until a new note/key is pressed.

I'm wondering if this is just the way it is, and I should use a different synth for this sort of effect. I'm thinking it could be something to do with the order of the patchcords or something. Any input would be much appreciated.

no...resonance is sampled at note-on.

correct...this is due to the number of
coefficients and the like that must be
calculated when working with a filter that
has up to twelve poles and 50 different
responses as opposed to 2-4 poles with
perhaps 3 responses.

if you really must modulated resonance in
real-time, you should choose a different
synth.

personally, I do not find this a limitation
whatsoever...YMMV.

It is just the way emu synths are but due to the wicked cords
section there is a work around.

I recomend that you go to IBGEEK, this is another yahoo group
dedicated to making sounds. There is a link to the group from the
links section of this group.

Look in the files section of the group and Aaron explains very
clearly how to set it up. It is extreemly effective.

in a nutshell it involves crossfading samples with different resonances using
the patchcords.

thanks for the info!

I agree this isn't the biggest problem, it's just this long breakdown that I'm trying to put together....... thinking I'll just copy the program to another program and do the crossfade in Sonar.

Thanks,

Im soldier station over in frankurt germany and this weekend i went to the music messe(8 march 2003)and i talk with the emu rep. manager and ask him about the 2.0 os and he told me it will be out in 3-4 week, so the wait is over, they would not tell me the feature, but they had a mp-7,xl-7,and px-7 running off 0s 2.0 beta, funny only the emu rep. were playing these groove box, so that means i could not play it,and to find out whats going on inside. so 3-4 week 2.0 0s will be out and the px-7 will ship with 2.0 os.
