Hello All,
I just joined the forum yesterday because I am considering
purchasing the MP-7. I was also looking at the Akai MPC's. Since you are
actual owners I wanted to get some feedback on the MP-7 and get some
questions answered if possible.
I am curious to know if quality tracks can be done just
using the onboard sequencer? And is it hard to understand? I also am guessing
that I could load my own samples using the EZ-loader software? Any info
would be great...Thanks

Chris

Head on over to http://EmuCS.iuma.com

You can hear some of the tunes that were made with JUST the XX-7's.
(Shameless plug) "Composite Blue" was the winner FYI.

The MP7 (XL7) is great it has great internal sounds and it's
advantage over the MPC is price. you will save about $1000 getting
the MP7 (depending on what MPC you get).

The MP7 and XL7 are NOT a samplers. You cannot load sounds into
them. you can buy ROMs with different sound sets so if you could
make a ROM yourself then it could be a sampler. but This is not a
sampler. even if you stick with the origianl sound set there are a
mulititude of amazing sounds.

I think that the XL7 is very easy to understand and use, especially
now that OS 1.32 is out. it is currently the centerpiece of my live
PA setup, which consists of 2 other drum machines a virtual analog
synth and a sampler.

While I wouldn't suggest using only an XL7 or MP7 the internal sounds
are good enough that you can do just that.
