Just another cubase sx question :)

Just another cubase sx question :)

2003-02-04 by Dietmar Köring

first thanx to erik magrini for your help.. but the problem was in my xl-7..
but now all works fine...

when I now arrange loops via cubase SX how can I import them into my xl-7.
sure via E-Loader but what do I have look for when I save my Midi file? does
the e-loader also transfer controller setting such as cutoff and release?

would be great if somebody could give me an easily introduction :-)
thanx and greetz from europe

P.S.: How did the contest end?

After you have everything in SX the way you want it, just go to File ->
Export -> MIDI File. Then select Type 1, and choose a desitination. After
that, load it into your XX-7 via E-Loader. I find that things work the
best if I start my initial pattern in the XX-7 though, and then import it
into SX to work on further (you may have to reorder the tracks though, no
biggy). That way I'm sure all the program change messages, and effects
settings are correct. Oh, and E-loader will definitely transfer all the
controller info too, no worries there!

How is this done? I've transferred some patterns from my mp7 to my
pc, but I can't open them in cubase. What's the correct procedure?

And what do you mean by reordering the tracks?

Cheers

In both SX and VST, you need to go to the File menu, then select import
and choose MIDI file. Then go to where you saved the midi file from the
XX-7 (via E-Loader, I may have forgotten to list that step last time,
sorry), and select it. I think in VST you can even drag it from the
desktop onto your arrange page too, though this hasn't been implemented in
SX yet.

As for reordering, sometimes after the midi file is imported, Cubase will
order the tracks the wrong way, ie Track/Channel 1 is somwhere in the
middle, Track/Channel 2 is at the bottom, etc. Not neccesary to reorder
them, I just personally find it easier to put the tracks in the same order
they were in the XX-7. Also, say you have an 8 bar pattern you're
importing, sometimes Cubase will add an extra half measure or so to random
tracks (and it's not note length causing it). You might want to resize
the part by grabbing it's right handle and dragging it to fit. Again, not
neccesary, but it keeps things clean.

If I'm being unclear on any of this, let me know and I'll try and clarify
further.
