If you really mean the Planet Phatt module, they'd have to be
approximations, as those synths used a different architecture.  This
would take a lot of work, as each preset would have to be recreated
from scratch.  If you mean comverting the Mo'Phatt presets to work on
an MP-7 or vice-cersa, that would be just changing the ROM ID, and may
have already been done.

The mo phatt presets for the MP-7 are available on the
EMU website.  I meant the planet phatt presets.  I
used to have a planet phatt and when I got the XL7
card I converted a few presets which I needed for my
patterns.  I was able to find all of the base
waveforms, but the filters and LFO settings were
tricky.

Hi all ,
I tried every dump sysex utilities I could find on the net to get the 
Audity2000 presets in my XX7 (my cubase 32 5.0 rev6 can't see .syx 
files !? though i'm sure older versions could do it if i remember 
well, I already did this successfully with other synths in the 
past...), I changed sysex ID in the midi menu to 10 but nothing 
seemed to get it working....Midi connections seemed right and the 
midi in light of the XX7 was blinking fast indicating that sysex were 
being transmitted to the box but no sound were affected , I mean , 
all my previous presets were still there untouched , no new bank 
appeared to replace'em !!!??!!
Is there anybody who successfully dumped the Audity2000 presets
into his XX7 ? Am i missing something ? Any suggestions on what i 
should try or about the software i should use for this ?

Cubase VSt 32 can definitely see sysex files, I used mine with the XX_7's 
Preets dumps all the time.  Be sure it's not set up to Filter out Sysex 
messeges first (cubase does this by default), should be in the MIDI System 
setup.

I would recommend Windows XP from "ShouldaboughtaPC".  :)

Seriously, I'm not into the whole mac thing as I use a PC, so my opinion 
is only based on what I've read.  I know Digital Performer 4 just came 
out, and a lot of people like that.  Alternately you could look into one 
of the cut down versions of Pro Tools, or Emagic's Logic as well.

Maybe drK will pipe in on this one.  He's a part-time Mac head.

I'm staying with OS 9.whatever because of all the MIDI stuff from the last
decade that doesn't play well with OS X.

Stay away from slotools... stay away.... It's still the worlds most
expensive and cumbersome pile of crap.

Logic just keeps getting better and better, but IMHO, Cubase still has a
better UI for composition - the midi portion of logic hasn't seen much in
the way of updates since 3.0...

Thanks Realm for answering .......But I never forget to prevent cubase
from filtering sysexes , the problem is that my XX7 just don't 
recognizes these ones . I was using some crappy sysex dump utilities 
 for this as my cubase seems to be corrupted for some reason.....
Maybe it's the reason why I failed to dump these presets into the box 
so I will reinstall some other version of cubase and try again then 
I'll tell you.........

Hi !
I dump correctly the Audity2000banksysx to my XL7 but it does 
nothing !?!
I came to think that there must be some kind of ROM ID number 
mismatch or whatever that prevents those patches to load into the box
In fact i'd be glad to hear someone who have done this successfully , 
it would mean we won't have to edit miles of sysexes manually !!

Kudos to rEalm for compiling Tips and Tricks v. 1.00.  Thanks to the 
contributors for sharing TnTs. I can't wait to try out a few sound

Finally, I have to give credit to rEalm for some tips I learned 
working on the problem of restoring multis: 

(1)  Organization tip: Multis
Organize your multis in functional banks.  For example:
000 -> 009 could be for basic studio/performance modes
010 -> 019 could be for external gear controller asignments
020 -> 039 could be for song/performance specific setups
055 -> 059 could be for saving temporary setups before powering
           down the Command Station.
etc.

(2)  Setup/Performance Tip:
When using latched notes to trigger arps [using trigger buttons], 
asign them to B channels if your patterns/sequences use A channels.

Perhaps these and other user ideas will appear in the next edition 
of "E-Mu TnT".

Maybe we should consider including 'Patchcords as Text files' into 
the next "E-MU TnT" edition (with permission of Mike GoodWin of 
course !).....It can be found in the files section of IBGEEK and it's 
full of excellent tips about E-MU GEAR... And oh yes , I highly 
recommend IBGEEK group for every one that wants to go deeper into E-
MU synths ...In short a perfect place to go aside with this one...
Now I have a suggestion for Dr.Steve :
 If you're still planning to write some little ware for XL & MP 
users , there's a feature I would love to find (and I'm sure i'm not 
the only one !!!) it's a way to convert automatically XL1 Sysexes to 
get into an XL7 , and why not, some of the Audity 2000 too ...It 
would be sooo cool !! I know , E-MU already converted XL1 factory 
patches but so much work has been done by XL1 users ....I'm sure it's 
easy for a Sysex and programming dude like you and I bet that there 
are some Windows specialist here that would be glad to give you a 
hand !!

The more I use your arp2Midi program and the more I love it...I'm 
planning to complete a whole bank of custom arpeggi as it didn't 
crashed once until now (I never did 10 imports in the same session 
though...).Never dared to do my own arps with the XX7 before (so

programmer and I love your arp2Midi utility "as is", but here are 
some suggestions :    

It would be cool :
- If we could import to location 000
- If the soft could be more "friendly" with non-standart note lenghts
- If the soft could deal with my old Cubase 5.1 Midifiles format1 (it 
keeps stating : only format 1 is accepted.....So I save'em under 
Sonar 2.0 and then everything is fine !) 

But I can live without those improvements, and you already have won 
my eternal gratitude !! Your program rocks !

I wonder how many of these pros you've actually asked.

Most studios need some common interchange format, so you'll see lots
of Pro Tools rigs around, but I don't see any particular preference
for Mac over PC. Logic is pretty strong (although now it's Mac-only
we'll see if that lasts) but not pervasive. I certainly don't think
high-end analogue recording is that prevalent outside some rather
specific cliques; these days you can get the sonic quality of analogue
before printing to tape or disk.

I tried it out last night loading arps and it worked on my pc to xx-7 
with no hiccups. 
I ended up playing around all night with the things - there all over 
the place!
I´m still not quite sure of the advantages of using arps, something 
to research here in the user group, I suppose (any feedback welcome).
I think Arp editing definatly falls into the issue of the xx-7 screen 
size that had a thread here last week( Personaly, I can´t wait to get 
away from a screen and use my xx-7 and EARS (...and fingertips) to 
make my sounds.).But my vote is, that this software def has arps 
covered. SPOT-ON.

Everytime I try to import to location 000 it resets to 001 !

 I was also refering to note durations not supported by the xx-7 and 
the weird results we sometimes hear once they're imported...But this 
is not a real issue for me, I can resize midi notes lenght,(before

No need to investigate, they are format 0 ! In fact, Cubase 5.1 tends 
to automatically save midi files under format 0 when there's only one 
track....But Midi2arp works perfectly with real format 1 midi files 
exported from Cubase....In short, you did a great app !! So sorry for 
the last statement it was not justified...

Help!

Since a long time I wasn?t active here! Now my problem is that I don?t have
access to the files of the XL-7 Usergroup any more because I get a failure
message every time I try to lock in. The systems tells me that I?m already a
member of this group but if I have a look at my booked groups this one isn?t
listed. I?m definitely not able to get access to any files which are stored
there :( Can anybody be so kind to help me?

well...heres my first 20 patches. Finally had time to get intimate 
with my MP7 and P2000 Composer ROM. Please try these and see if the 
sysex file works. Its only the 1rst 20 slots, so the rest and 
initial blanks. Will hopefuly fill them up soon.

Pads, more pads, space, vocalites, leads, sample hold rythms and 
stacked superbass. Had fun with those 50 Z-plane filters. Still 
getting used to this, but programming everything from the box ( no 
editing software)

I bought a used XL-7 recently. One of the percieved negative buying 
points was 'oh well , I wont have that supply of tim's excellent 
patches, linke I do with my VSTis'. 

This proves it: I know know you are a patch android, not only 
working 24/7 but at 3Ghz :) :) :)

listen TSCY owners, i visited rob papens website [www.robpapen.com] and i 
found two sets of free presets for the TSCY. I checked them a while and i 
they contain some really nice basses, arps and kits.... i still miss some 
more synth/lead sounds but its worth it to download them.

The only catch is that you need the P2000 Composer ROM. I was lucky 
enough to get an MP7 with the Composer ROM and World Expedition rom. 
Does anyone here have the P2000 Composer ROM installed in thier 
command stations?

The other good thing is that these patches will work with a P2000, 
so I also uploaded to thier forum.

I really love the synthisis on this machine. You can go very deep.

Use one of these programs:

Mac OS X:  SysEx Librarian http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/

Windows:  MIDI/OX http://www.midiox.com/

System Exclusive (.syx) files can also be opened in most major sequencing
programs. I would check your sequencer's manual to see how to go about doing
this. :D

We have encountered next problem.
Syncing 3 devices in a chain.
SP808Ex (master)-> Xl7 ->mp7
the problem is...
XL7 recives midi clock and start stop messages, mp7
doesnt recive clockbut recives star stop messages.
thats strange we have tried everything , read the
manual and nothing helps, whats that??? why XL-7 dont
through the clock?

It does.  According to the manual, you must sync the XL7 to external clock (SP808 is the master clock) and then turn on transmit midi clock (at this point, I would leave merge off).....

Not sure how you have chosen to sequence things but
how about a straight thru box with a few parallel outputs?
The timing should be a lot tighter that way..
But maybe this is no good for your way of working?
l'll have a look myself as well to see if the clock gets re-
transmitted when the command station is synced to an external clock.

There one of the easiest midi gadges to make as it goes, l'll try and 
find a link or schematic for one or l'll sketch it out myself for you.
Also you can custom build it so that you get more routing options.

You dont need very much as it goes. Infact you could proberly salvage 
some parts from scap electronics..
You can make it a couple of differant ways depending on what you can 
get your hands on.
